This pen is a cartridge-based fountain pen, it is equipped with a Rhodium-plated 18 caret gold nib as well as a Platinum covered trim and clip and the barrel and cap are made from solid resin. Of course, the traditional Mont Blanc trademark marks the Pen. This would be the infamous “Edelweiss,” which is the stylized six-pointed star that and it is easily recognized around the world. The Mont Blanc web site describes this as “Black precious resin” and offers no details as to its composition.
The real value of the Mont Blanc Fountain pen is its quality and reputation and it is in this particular area where Mont Blanc shines well. These pens are coveted by so many that the company recently announced that it would no longer allow internet sales of its products because the number of fakes and knock offs is increasing.
This means that you can only purchase them from the manufacturer or off-line at a luxury goods shop. Founded by the stationer Claus-Johannes Voss, the banker Alfred Nehemias and the engineer August Eberstein in 1906, the company began as the Simplo Filler Pen company producing up-market pens in the Schanzen district of Hamburg. Today Montblanc forms part of the Richemont group. Its sister companies include luxury brands Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Chloé, and Baume et Mercier. Since 2000, Montblanc has manufactured all the components for Montegrappa and Cartier branded pens.
