Pencil Sharpeners: Indispensible devices

If one talks about some basic essential stationery items for use in the office, then Pencil Sharpeners, though of humble origin, occupy a very strategic position in the list of office stationery that can be used. The fact that this is highly basic owes to the fact that they can be used for sharpening the pencils by school going children and at the same time they also enjoy an important position in the office environments as well. Defined in simplistic terms they are devices that   can be used for giving the pencils that pointed look that makes them ready for use. This can either be done by shaving off the flattened or worn out surface, or using sharpener that can manually or electrically shave off the edges so that the pencils are ready to be put into use in seconds.

Considering the significance that they enjoy in the office environs, there are various kinds of pencil sharpeners that are available for all the individuals at work. There are manual pencil sharpeners, or the ones that are operated through an electric motor, that is the Electric Pencil Sharpeners. In addition to this there are also battery operated sharpeners too that are available. Now to talk about the types of pencils sharpeners in details, for example there are sharpeners that would start automatically when the pencil gets inserted, and then there is a design variation of this concept in the sense that there are vertical sharpeners with similar features that are so made that they would be able to save on the space on desks. Another variation of the kind of sharpeners is that they are facilitated with the provision of variation on the tip of the pencils. One can choose between 3 different types of pencil tip finishes. Another kind of electric sharpeners are the ones in which the motor would automatically stop when the sharpening has been done. Whereas; still another variety of electric pencil sharpener enables you with the facility to choose between three different sizes of pencils that can be sharpened in accordance to your likings. The electric sharpeners stand away from the group as they have many utilities to offer. The moment pencils are inserted into them the blades turn at very high speed, taking care of job done to perfection as in comparison to the manual sharpeners. What is even more commendable about these is that they are compact and portable and have easy operations. They not only work well, rather they are also capable of collecting the pencil shavings in them. These electric sharpeners are actually great for both in school and home usages. In fact these are an example of devices that are cheap, small and portable and yet they enjoy a very significant position in both home and offices at the same time!

Moon Rush:Improving life On Earth with the Moon’s Resources Moonrush: Improving Life On Earth With The Moon’s Resources is another in the Apogee Books Space Series. If by some magic process humanity was able to go to the stars tomorrow and find habitable worlds we would probably want to design a society based upon modern technology. We can’t do this but we can look at our Earthbound society and think about how to redesign it so that it will work better. It is like a giant game of the SIMS but in the real world. This book examines how the exploration of space, specifically a commercial base on the Moon and Mars would transform our economies on the Earth as surely as the discovery of the New World transformed the old world of Europe. From Platinum Group Metals for fuel cells, manufacturing high tech metals and robots to the building of a fusion reactor, the Moon holds great promise for a high tech manufacturing future. This book takes a look and imagines how a world with such resources could be designed for our future. The Conquest of Space

The Conquest of Space

$23.95

The Conquest of Space by David Lasser with a new introduction by Sir Arthur C. ClarkeDavid Lasser stands as one of the least-known but extraordinary pioneers of spaceflight. In 1930 he founded the American Interplanetary Society – the same year he wrote this book – the first book ever written in the English language to address the notion of spaceflight as a serious possibility. This book has not been in print since 1931 and yet it still stands up to scrutiny. The lucid style with which Lasser explains the basic concepts of rocketry make it a delight for anyone to read. Only a handful of errors creep into the text and all of those were based on the best information available at the time. The Conquest of Space is a milestone work of spaceflight literature and was state of the art in 1931. No space enthusiast’s library is complete without it. Here is what Sir Arthur C. Clarke had to say about The Conquest of Space… “My encounter with The Conquest of Space, soon after its publication in 1931, was one of the turning points in my life, and I suspect, not only of mine” FEATURES: Hardcover: 192 pages Publisher: Collector’s Guide Publishing Inc (September 1, 2002) Language: English Book Dimensions: 9.8 x 6.8 x 0.9 inches

Celebrating 50 Years of Americans in Space Commemorative Patch

Celebrating 50 Years of Americans in Space Commemorative Patch

$7.95

CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF AMERICANS IN SPACE This is a new patch designed by Tim Gagnon. It honors and celebrates America’s achievements in space. In 1961 two countries began what came to be known as the Space Race – the USSR and the USA. Its goal was to showcase to the world the technical prowess of each country. On May 25, 1961 the American President challenged his nation to ?land a man on the Moon and return him safely to Earth.? That goal was met on July 24, 1969. The knowledge gained from that achievement led to learning howto “live and work in space” towards the goal of returning to the Moon to stay and one day explore the surface of Mars. The central elements are representations of our past and current achievements. The US Flag on the surface of the Moon and the International Space Station in orbit above the Earth. The Astronaut Symbol, representing every American who has flown in space connects the two achievements. The emblems of every past manned space program from Project Mercury to the Space Shuttle surround the center paying tribute to the men and women who made those programs possible and a success. The seven star constellation “Aquila.” which means “Eagle” honor the original seven astronauts as well as the final crews of Challenger and Columbia. The three stars together in the upper left honor the crew of Apollo 1.

Return To Flight Space Shuttle Discovery Photo Scrapbook

Return To Flight Space Shuttle Discovery Photo Scrapbook

$16.95

RETURN-TO-FLIGHT: Space Shuttle Discovery Photo Scrapbook After Columbia disintegrated during entry on 1 February 2003, NASA grounded the entire Space Shuttle fleet until it could ascertain what had gone wrong and fixed the problem. Whenever an aerospace program is grounded for a prolonged period, the first flight after the grounding is often called the Return-to-Flight. After 30 months of work, NASA launched the Space Shuttle Program’s Return-to-Flight ? STS-114 ? using Discovery. This flight was the most photographed Space Shuttle flight ever, with numerous cameras on the ground, ships, and aircraft tracking the vehicle during ascent, and the crew of the International Space Station taking a series of detailed photographs as the Orbiter approached the ISS. In addition, the crew of the Discovery used cameras in the cockpit and on a long, robotic arm to examine almost every inch of the Orbiter. The result was some stunning photography that shows the Space Shuttle in ways that have never before been seen. It is presented here, in full color, as the program readies to fly the second Return-to-Flight launch ? STS-121 ? also using Discovery. “This stunning presentation is one that I know you’ll find just as incredible as I. It is a book that helps to show wonder and fascination with the current shuttle program better than I’ve read before. You just have to have this one.” -www.modelingmadness.com, reviewed by Scott Van Aken, June 2006″Although most of us will never have a chance to fly aboard the Space Shuttle, looking at these intimately detailed photos will be about as close as we’ll ever come.” -Air Power & Wings Magazine, reviewed by Mike Machat, August 2006Internet Modeler, July 2006, reviewed by Chris Banyai-Riepl”This book is one which all aviation buffs should have in their library. You would be hard pressed to find a more thorough photo examination of a Shuttle mission anywhere outside of NASA.” AVAILABLE NOW! 9 x 9″ 108 pgs.
